Starmus Festival VII will take place in Bratislava between 12 and 17 May 2024
One of the most esteemed festivals delving into humanity’s most pressing issues will take place in Bratislava this May. Starmus Festival will offer a much-needed voice to raise awareness about the urgency to act in light of the climate crisis. The six-day event will take all around Bratislava and will be open to the general public.
On 12 May, Bratislava will stage a concert by Jean-Michel Jarre with a special guest appearance by Brian May. The next day will follow with eye-opening presentations from scientists and world-renowned philanthropists. Among others, Jane Goodall will look at why there are still reasons for hope, Steven Chu will discuss the challenges to net-zero GHG emissions, and Slyvia Erle will share insights about exploring and protecting Earth’s deep frontier.
Answering the questions that will define our future
This year, the speakers will seek answers to questions such as: will AI and quantum computers take over the world, and will technology save or destroy our planet? Experts will also touch upon the environmental crisis and the possibility of mass extinction and cyberattacks.
Every year, the Starmus Festival honours experts who achieved excellence in science communications. The Stephen Hawking Medal Award ceremony was created in honour of the late scientist. It recognises the merit of popular science on an international level.
Following the awards, the organisers promise an unforgettable concert by The Offspring and other performers. Participants can look forward to insightful talks about the space frontier, AI and sustainability on the final days. Every edition grants attendees a unique experience, a symbiosis between exclusive talks and once-in-a-lifetime concerts.
