Australian hotel brand Tribe set to make its Slovenian debut

Emonika will house a unique four-star property

The Australian-born lifestyle hotel brand, TRIBE, is set to make its Slovenian debut in Ljubljana with the opening of a new four-star property in the Emonika development, adjacent to the city’s future passenger terminal. The hotel is expected to open by the end of 2027.

The Tribe Hotel will be the first of the two planned hotels at Emonika, an emerging commercial complex in Ljubljana, and is expected to open at the end of 2027. The lease contract with the main Emonika investor, Mendota Invest, has already been signed.

A new chapter for Ljubljana’s hospitality scene

The TRIBE Ljubljana hotel will be part of the Emonika complex, a large-scale urban regeneration project led by Mendota Invest, a subsidiary of Hungary’s OTP Group. The development will include two hotels, 187 residential units, office spaces, and a shopping centre. The TRIBE hotel will be operated by Mogotel Hotel Group, a Latvian-based hospitality company that manages properties under various Accor brands.

TRIBE hotels are known for their design-forward, functional spaces tailored to the needs of modern travellers. Guests can anticipate:

  • Stylish, compact rooms with high-quality finishes.
  • Vibrant social hubs designed for both work and relaxation.
  • 24/7 grab-and-go counters offering curated food and beverage options.
  • A focus on local culture, integrating regional elements into the guest experience

The TRIBE brand, launched in Australia in 2017 and now part of the Accor portfolio, has expanded globally, with over 20 hotels currently operating and more than 40 in development.

Mendota Invest CEO Pal Forgacs believes the Tribe Hotel will be an important asset within the complex, which will help revitalise a long-neglected area near the Ljubljana central train station. Frank Reul, vice president for development at Accor for Eastern Europe, Balkans, Italy and Greece, believes that Slovenia, together with the rest of the Balkans, has a huge tourism potential.

“We are very pleased to expand our network to Slovenia with the Tribe Hotel – the first in Ljubljana and the wider region,” he said in a press release on 22 April.
